Sample Itinerary

Brown Breadmaking while only one loaf of bread will be chosen as the winner that person’s team will get the points. (And of course the fresh bread is delicious with lunch)
Céilí Dancing nothing like this to get the craic going and we will have a feis ceol dancing competition to decide which team wins.
Team-building Challenges The Helium Stick and the Turf Steps are two of the short challenges we pose along the way and which get everyone thinking and working together.
Bodhrán Class Good ld-fashioned drumming, hopefully in time to the music – this can be judged, or just enjoyed as a moment of communal fun.
Mural Painting We choose a theme related to your work and paint one or several murals to reflect this theme.
Sugán Ropemaking Which team can weave the longest and the strongest rope of straw – and what is your team record for the number of people skipping with the rope all together?
Trip to the Bog Take the tractor and trailer to the bog and rise to our boggy challenges – bog skiing, an ancient Irish pedicure, rope challenge…
Sheepdog Herding Form a human pen with the group and get the dogs to take the sheep up close and personal, into the middle of the “pen”. The teams are given a certain time to guide a group of sheep through a set of gateways! Tick tock …
Milk a Cow everyone will get a chance to be a “milkmaid” … swish, swish … “who is first with enough for a cup of tea?”

The cost of the above is €30 plus VAT for a half day (2 ½ hours) or €50 plus VAT (5 hours) for a full day excluding lunch.

A three course lunch costs from €15 per person. (Minimum group price €350, maximum group size 200 people)

Tea and homemade scones on arrival are included in both the full and half day programmes.

There are numerous options for lunch but a salad buffet of ham, smoked salmon, etc along with the bread people make here themselves works best. If you choose the salad buffet lunch, it is possible to facilitate a treasure hunt to find tokens for each part of the buffet. The team with the most tokens has the best lunch … and then the trading starts. “We’ll give you some potato salad for some smoked salmon!”

Alternatively full hot meals are available in our Causey Cookhouse which specialises in food produced either on the farm or locally. Barbecues can be arranged if required.

If you would like more information just call us to discuss any aspect of the above.

What the Hens Say
We would just like to say the biggest thank you for the best day we have had in a long time last Saturday. The farm is amazing but most importantly your hospitality was second to none. We felt so welcome and never laughed so much. We may have been one of your first Mayo hens but we will spread the word and hopefully ye will have more! From baking the bread to racing in the bog we will be laughing for yrs about it.Marie, July 2010

The bride to be Gráinne was from Donegal, (I'd say it's hard to remember all the hen parties as you have so many). All the girls from Gráinne's hen would like to say thank you to Ella for making our visit to the farm a great one. We all had a brilliant time and we enjoyed every second of it....we all loved jumping in the bog. I will definitely be recommending Causey farm as a great place for a hen party.Maeve, Aug 2011

On behalf of the Bride to Be Ger, thanks for making her hen weekend so memorable and such good fun. We are still laughing over our experience in the bog!! You cannot beat tucking into your own brown bread and Lily's scones in the sunshine with a cuppa and good company.Frances Hargaden, Aug 2010
