HENS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do we have to dress up?
The most important thing is to dress warmly and don’t wear your Sunday best… it is a working farm, other than that wear what you wish. The hens really appreciate the odd frill or two! Dress up if you like – it adds to the fun. If you already have wellies, bring them – we have some pairs here.
Can we do the farm activities on their own, or are they just available with the hotel package?

You are welcome to come to the farm and plan your own itinerary for the rest of the Hen Weekend. The three hour hen party programme costs €40 per person.

I just want to do the farm activities, we aren’t staying in the area – how do I book?

You contact Causey Farm directly on 046 9434135 or mobile 0872391354 or email info@causey.ie. We can let you know about availability and give you more info if needed. We will ask for a contact phone number from you and we ask for EUR 100 deposit which is due when the booking is confirmed – this can by paid by cheque or by credit card over the phone.

I want to do a package that includes accommodation, how do I book and who with?

You can check availability by contacting Causey Farm directly (on 046 9434135 or email info@causey.ie) If there is space available we will make a provisional booking. You then need to contact the accommodation provider directly ie the hotel you want to stay in – the package information and the contact details are here. They will deal with payment.

I don’t have exact numbers yet, does that matter?

Here at the farm we are quite flexible, numbers going up or down a bit doesn’t matter to us, but the accommodation providers require more definite details.

Is there a minimum or maximum group size?
There is no group too large for us! Minimum group size 8 people.
How long does it last?
The programme lasts about 3 hours
What if someone in the group has a disability or a phobia?

Contact us on 046 9434135 or mobile 0872391354 or email info@causey.ie to have a chat about it, we have always been able to accommodate people so far!

Someone in the group is pregnant, is it safe to come to the farm?
Yes it is, just let us know on the day – pregnant girls need to stay away from sheep in the lambing season which is absolutely no problem if we are aware of it.
Should we wear wellies?
Yes if you have them – this is a working farm! Otherwise comfortable shoes or boots that you don’t mind getting muddy.
Do I need a change of clothes?
It is a good idea to bring a spare pair of old shorts/trousers to wear if you plan to get mucky in the bog!
What time do the farm activities start?

We have different time slots available all day Saturday, you need to check what is available with Causey Farm (Tel: 046 9434135 or email info@causey.ie)

How far is the farm from nearby towns?
Navan is 10 miles (20 mins drive), Kells is 5 miles (10 mins drive), Athboy is 5 miles (10 mins drive) and Trim is 12 miles (20 mins).
What types of activities do we do on the farm?
Activities include milking a cow, baking brown soda bread, dancing an Irish dance, a tractor-trailer ride, an Irish foot spa (dipping your toes in the muck in the bog!), painting the bride’s life story on the wall of a shed, catching a hen and playing the bodhran. Tea and scones are provided in our lovely cookhouse when sustenance is needed.
Is there a set programme of activities or do we choose what we do?
We have set programme of activities that we know from experience works really well. If you have a specific request please let us know.
Is there anywhere we can get our hair and/or make up done for the night out?
We can recommend Exclusives Hair and Beauty, Farrell St, Kells.

Do you have to be a hen party to do this package?
No – the farm is open to groups all the time. We have everyone from Senior Citizens to Corporate Groups, Girl Guides to Artists, foreign tourists to local school tours.
Who thought of this idea?
Angela – sister number two of the seven – was brainstorming and came up with this plan. Our friend Olivia, from the Headfort Arms, came up with the luxury side of the package.
Is there anything else I need to know?
The activities are great fun, and some of them are quite active. For safety reasons we ask you not to bring alcohol onto the farm. Also it’s a good idea to be prepared for the outdoors – lots of layers, and of course your wellies!
